Leeds-based alt-rock outfit Artio have released their new album, Soul Rot, today via LAB Records. Celebrating the release, the band have also premiered the music video for their latest single, “Full On Fight For Fun,” featuring As It Is.
Speaking on the track, vocalist Rae Brazill shares: “‘Full On Fight is an ode to my sister, and our childhood. A story of growing up, changing, becoming adults and experiencing our lives together, expressing how much I love her and how far I wish to see her go. The title is the name of a game we made up as children, and the vocal sample at the end is her. She is as much this song as we are, and it’s all for her.’”
Soul Rot is a sprawling yet assured sophomore statement that cements Artio as a band of singular vision, defined by an uncompromising commitment to their own voice. Confident and contemporary, the album is mythic in scope but razor-sharp in execution, drawing from influences as expansive as the Hero’s Journey and as intimate as the familiar landscapes of their hometown.
Introducing a bold new sonic and thematic palette, Soul Rot explores the tension between momentum and rejuvenation — the reckoning that comes with achieving what you’ve always wanted, and the strength required to live first and foremost by your own terms.
