Nottingham’s own As December Falls have officially kicked off their next chapter with the release of their high-octane new single, ‘Anymore.’
The track marks a stylistic evolution for the pop-punk outfit, blending their signature hooks with a contemporary electronic edge. According to frontwoman Bethany Hunter, the shift was intentional, “The song,” she continues, “is the starting point of a bigger narrative across the album, where she discovers the ability to portal between worlds and escape her reality. Each song from the new record will be accompanied by a short story for fans to really get into the lore of the record. It’s the sound of us pushing forward creatively while building something much more cinematic and story-driven than we’ve ever done before and I’m so excited to share it with the world!”
Fresh off a career-defining debut at #8 on the UK Official Albums Chart, As December Falls are proving that independent pop-punk is more vital than ever. Their latest record, Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine, serves as a bold and brutally honest manifesto, capturing the "beautiful chaos" of chasing a dream while life feels like it’s falling apart. Balancing day jobs with a relentless touring schedule, the band has channeled their collective exhaustion, anxiety, and grit into 14 tracks that hit harder than anything they’ve released before, both sonically and emotionally.
The album refuses to shy away from the mess of the human experience, instead choosing to stare it down with a mixture of laughter, tears, and defiant energy. From the smoldering intensity of the title track, which encapsulates the unique pressure and privilege of their current place in the industry, to the visceral vulnerability of songs like ‘Grim Reaper’ and ‘Angry Cry,’ the band embraces the raw reality of being "not quite okay."
Their songwriting remains as eclectic as it is unfiltered, drawing inspiration from late-night Twitch gaming sessions on ‘Ready Set Go’, the sting of red flags on ‘Bathroom Floor,’ and even chaotic, best-friend revenge arcs on ‘For The Plot.’ This unfiltered honesty has built a deep connection with a fanbase that knows exactly what it feels like to be overwhelmed or underestimated.
As December Falls aren’t interested in playing it safe. They are here to burn down the expectations of the industry and build something authentic in the ashes. If their recent success is any indication, this is a fire that won't be going out anytime soon.
