BIG THIEF RELEASE TWO NEW SINGLES

Indie outfit Big Thief have released two new singles, ‘Grandmother’ and ‘Los Angeles,’ offering another glimpse into their highly anticipated sixth studio album, Double Infinity, due out 5 September via 4AD.
The new tracks follow last month’s single ‘All Night All Day,’ described by Paste as a “euphoric ode to the all-encompassing haze of desire.”
‘Grandmother’ marks a milestone for the band, as it’s the first song written collectively by all three members. The track delves into themes of generational love and inherited pain. The track also features a guest appearance from ambient music legend Laraaji, who contributes backing vocals and zither.
Classic and steadfast, ‘Los Angeles’ is a song of quiet revival - a meditation on the transformation of past lovers into enduring friends. Adrianne Lenker’s vocals carry a sense of gentle perseverance as she sings, “I’ll follow you forever. Even without looking. You call we come together,” capturing how love, though reshaped by time, remains indelible.
With its stripped-down clarity and emotional immediacy, ‘Los Angeles’ may be the most timeless and accessible track Big Thief have released to date - a quietly anthemic moment in their ever-evolving catalogue.
Double Infinity is shaping up to be one of the year’s most emotionally resonant releases, further showcasing Big Thief’s ability to balance raw vulnerability with expansive sonic exploration.
