CHLOE MORIONDO SHARES NEW SINGLE
Indie-pop favorite Chloe Moriondo has unveiled (my world is an) oyster, the deluxe edition of her acclaimed third studio album, oyster, out now via Public Consumption/Atlantic Records. The expanded release features two brand-new tracks, including ‘teeth.’
The deluxe edition adds the atmospheric ‘girls with gills’, a visionary collaboration with hyperpop star Alice Longyu Gao (KATSEYE’s ‘Gnarly’), plus ‘girls with gills (feat. alice longyu gao) [edit].’ Also included are a reimagined version of the title track ‘oyster,’ featuring digicore producer/artist aldn, and a previously unreleased piano rendition of fan favorite ‘shoreline.’
“i’m very excited for oyster deluxe to be out in the world,” says Chloe Moriondo. “it’s got some features and different versions i’m very proud of. the ‘girls with gills’ alice edit is such a dream to me…hearing alice’s freaky little self sing gay mermaid lyrics to my song was a peak moment. she’s a legend.”
‘girls with gills’ arrived this fall alongside a stunning visual now streaming on Moriondo’s official YouTube channel. The track quickly garnered praise, with Ones To Watch calling it “a fierce and bouncy alternative anthem that oozes a seductive, club-ready aura.”
Moriondo released oyster earlier this year together with an official visual for the title track. Written in the wake of significant personal upheaval, the album was crafted with a trusted group of collaborators including Jonah Summerfield (Holly Humberstone, Tommy Lefroy), Chloe Kraemer (The Japanese House), and AfterHrs. Across its diverse sonic palette, earnest balladry, explosive hyperpop, cathartic pop-punk, and glittering indie-pop, oyster chronicles a deep dive through heartbreak and the journey toward resurfacing stronger and more self-assured.
The 13-track album, hailed by Billboard as “her best project to date,” introduced singles including ‘shoreline,’ ‘hate it,’ and ‘abyss,’ each met with widespread acclaim. Ones To Watch praised “abyss” as “a vibrant, high-energy anthem that invites listeners to join in on the liberation,” while EUPHORIA noted that “Moriondo has perfected her musical style.” Lead single “hate it,” premiered exclusively via Billboard, was described as “an immediate pop earworm…the exact kind of unhinged energy we’re looking for in 2025.” UPROXX added, “Don’t let the title fool you: you will love it,” while OUT celebrated the “breezy new bop,” and Queerty highlighted its “darkly playful indie-pop” edge.
Co-written and produced with Chloe Kraemer, the wistful and pulsing “shoreline” earned praise from Billboard for its “effortless metaphor, simple production, and gorgeous vocal performance.” Consequence called it “a bold and affecting turn from Moriondo,” while Clash deemed it “radiant,” and DIY labeled it a “gentle electro-pop gem.”
Following The Oyster Tour, which began in Moriondo’s hometown of Detroit and spanned North America and Europe with stops in Los Angeles, New York City, Toronto, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, and London, she recently wrapped a series of North American dates supporting Waterparks, culminating in a special hometown performance at Detroit’s historic Masonic Temple Theatre. Additional shows will be announced soon.
