CHLOE MORIONDO TEAMS UP WITH ALICE LONGYU GAO ON SINGLE
Indie-pop favorite Chloe Moriondo has joined forces with hyperpop visionary Alice Longyu Gao for a futuristic reimagining of her recent single ‘girls with gills.’ The electrifying new version - ‘girls with gills (feat. alice longyu gao) [edit]’ is available now via Public Consumption/Atlantic Records.
The collaboration arrives ahead of Moriondo’s upcoming deluxe album, (my world is an) oyster, set for release on Friday, 5 December. An expanded edition of her acclaimed third studio album oyster, the project features the original ‘girls with gills’, a delicate piano version of fan favorite ‘shoreline’, and a new take on the title track ‘oyster’ featuring rising digicore artist aldn.
“i’m very excited for oyster deluxe to be out in the world,” says Chloe. “it’s got some features and different versions i’m very proud of. the ‘girls with gills’ alice edit is such a dream to me…hearing alice’s freaky little self sing gay mermaid lyrics to my song was a peak moment. she’s a legend.”
The original ‘girls with gills’ dropped last month during Moriondo’s European/UK headline tour, accompanied by a dreamy visual.
Released this past spring, oyster marked a creative leap for Moriondo, praised by Billboard as “her best project to date.” Created in the wake of personal upheaval, the 13-track album showcases a rich sonic palette - from hyperpop and indie-pop to cathartic pop-punk and vulnerable balladry. Moriondo worked with a tight circle of collaborators including Jonah Summerfield (Holly Humberstone), Chloe Kraemer (The Japanese House), and AfterHrs, crafting an emotionally resonant record that captures the chaos, heartbreak, and clarity of coming-of-age.
Following oyster’s release, Moriondo toured across North America and Europe on The Oyster Tour, with sold-out dates in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Amsterdam, and London.
Up next, she’ll join Waterparks on tour this fall, kicking off November 14 in Washington, DC, and wrapping with a special hometown show at Detroit’s Masonic Temple Theatre on November 26. Tickets are available now at www.chloemoriondo.com.
