The trailblazing UK alternative rock outfit DON BROCO has officially dropped their boldest project to date, Nightmare Tripping, which arrives today via Fearless Records. Renowned for a sound that consistently mocks traditional genre boundaries, the group has pushed their creative limits even further on this release, having developed the record alongside their long-term collaborator and the highly respected producer Dan Lancaster.
Throughout their career, DON BROCO has made a name for themselves by remaining impossible to categorize. By seamlessly blending elements of metal, post-hardcore, funk, and electronica, they have forged an identity that is entirely their own. With the arrival of Nightmare Tripping, the band explores their heaviest and most intricate compositions yet, leaning into unexpected sonic shifts and navigating much deeper thematic territory than ever before.
The album is bolstered by several high-octane collaborations, including the previously shared title track featuring Chad Kroeger and Ryan Peake of Nickelback. This specific partnership was celebrated by fans as "the collab of the century," while VICE described the track as a “collision of riffs, grooves, and a couple of killer breakdowns.”
To celebrate the album's full release, the band has also premiered a powerhouse new single titled ‘True Believers,’ which features a guest appearance from Sam Carter of Architects. The track delivers an intense sonic punch, pairing Carter’s iconic screams with the versatile vocal range of Rob Damiani, which shifts from delicate moments to raw, soaring intensity. Drawing inspiration from the troubling surge of far-right nationalism and the mechanics of societal brainwashing, the song tackles heavy subject matter while maintaining a balance between explosive energy and a melodic bridge, eventually building toward a devastating breakdown.
“We started writing this song back in 2024 during the Southport Riots. At the same time the Olympics were on, and flicking between them and the news was an alarming contrast between celebratory British patriotism and violent English nationalism. Over the last few years it’s been impossible to avoid the rise of the far-right across Europe and the United States, seeing politicians and people on the streets alike using the Nazi salute freely without consequence, and genocide apologist’s ideas embraced in the mainstream media. This song is about the brainwashing that’s led to this, to question what we’ve been brought up believing and the narratives that have been reinforced for generations,” shares Damiani.
He further explains the collaboration by adding, “As soon as the initial ideas were fleshed out I wanted Sam on this track. We’ve been fans of Architects for a long time and the energy and aggression he brings to his vocals are unmatched. As a human being of planet earth he’s used his talents again and again to stand up for what’s right so to collaborate on this song with him was very special.”
The road leading to the release of Nightmare Tripping has felt like an epic journey, marked by a series of diverse singles. The first track, ‘Cellophane,’ introduced fans to a sharp-edged nu-metal swagger, while ‘Disappear’ offered a look at the band's more vulnerable and emotionally raw side. In contrast, ‘Euphoria’ showcased their ability to craft massive electronic grooves anchored by a soaring, anthemic chorus. Each of these previews served to highlight the band's fearless approach to experimentation and their ongoing dedication to musical reinvention.
Reflecting on the core message of the record, the band notes, “For us, Nightmare Tripping is an album coming to terms with a new understanding of how to navigate the world. It’s about lifting the veil and accepting that life can sometimes feel like waking up from one nightmare straight into the next, and finding a way to be ok with that.”
As they wrap up the second leg of a high-energy tour across the United States, DON BROCO is preparing to return to the stage with even more intensity. Their immediate schedule includes a series of special album release shows and exclusive events taking place across the UK throughout this week. Looking ahead to the summer, the band is set to join Biffy Clyro for a massive performance at London’s Finsbury Park. With appearances scheduled for major festivals such as ROCK IM RING and Rock For People, and many more dates expected to be announced, fans worldwide will soon have the opportunity to witness the energy of Nightmare Tripping in a live setting.
