Free Throw has dropped a new single, ‘Mike Nolan’s Long Weekend,’ featuring Dom Fox of Bad Luck. The track blends Free Throw’s signature emotional intensity with Fox’s dynamic vocal presence, creating a raw and resonant collaboration that highlights the best of both bands. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the scene, this one’s a must-listen.
“’Mike Nolan's Long Weekend’ at its core, is a song about feeling misunderstood, or the feeling that people only look at what you say on a surface level” explains vocalist Cory Castro. “For instance, when I write songs about drinking and the issues that come with it, sometimes people just treat it like a party song. In reality, I'm usually exploring a much darker theme. This song explores how sometimes there can be something a little more serious hiding slightly beneath the surface."
In 2024, Free Throw honored the 10-year anniversary of their beloved debut Those Days Are Gone with a deluxe reissue. The expanded edition featured not only the original tracklist, but also reimagined versions of classic songs with guest vocals from Tades Sanville (Hot Mulligan), Nathan Hardy (Microwave), Pat Miranda (Movements), Christine Goodwyne (Pool Kids), and Yvette Young (Covet), along with a series of live recordings. The release was followed by a full-album anniversary tour that saw the band performing Those Days Are Gone front-to-back to sold-out crowds across the U.S.
Now, with fresh momentum, Free Throw is hitting the road again. They’ll embark on a short U.S. tour alongside labelmates Chase Petra and TRSH, including a set at Riot Fest in Chicago and a performance supporting The Menzingers at the Stone Pony Summer Stage. This fall, they’ll cross the Atlantic for a run of U.K. and European dates with Prince Daddy & The Hyena, also appearing on the Common Thread Tour.
