Gold Coast alt-rock band Friends of Friends have today unveiled their brand new EP, Synthetic Flower Chainsaw, alongside its focus track, ‘Happier.’

A five-track collection that balances jagged punk energy with raw vulnerability, Synthetic Flower Chainsaw is a bold and tender statement from a band unafraid to embrace imperfection. It’s catchy and chaotic, yet grounded in gut-spilled honesty, a strange kind of beauty that pulls you in. The EP swings from anthemic ferocity to brittle intimacy, its emotional core holding everything together.

More than just a record, Synthetic Flower Chainsaw is an entirely DIY creation. Every note was tracked, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Barnaby in the band’s own bedroom spaces - no studios, no safety nets. The visuals, videos, and marketing are also handled completely in-house, yet the project is already earning international recognition.

Having shared stages with acts like Kasabian, Sea Girls, The Reytons, Slowly Slowly, and Short Stack, Friends of Friends have quickly built a devoted following, amassing over 1.1 million Spotify streams across their singles and debut EP, REAL LIFE, RIGHT NOW (2024). Their festival resume includes Spilt Milk, BIGSOUND, SXSW Sydney, and Easy Lover, and even Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park praised their standout showcase performance in Brisbane.
