FUTURE PALACE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM

German alternative metal trio Future Palace have officially revealed details for their upcoming fourth studio album, titled Resurgence, which is set for release on July 31 through Century Media Records. To mark the announcement, the band has also delivered the album’s newest single, ‘Resurge’, paired with an official music video directed by Pavel Trebukhin, who is widely known for his recent visual collaborations with prominent acts like Sylosis and Imminence.

As a whole, ‘Resurgence’ delves deeply into core themes of personal hardship, profound emotional isolation, and the process of self-reinvention. By seamlessly weaving together post-hardcore aggression, electronic textures, infectious melodic hooks, and devastating breakdowns, the highly anticipated record ultimately chronicles a powerful psychological journey out of despair and toward a state of recovery.

Guitarist Manuel Kohlert noted that the creation of ‘Resurge’ propelled the band toward completely fresh musical horizons.

“Musically, ‘Resurge’ felt very nu metal right from the start when writing it. So you can call it another experiment since we didn’t do that kind of music yet. Sidenote: When writing the instrumental I had a Japanese video game in mind, which I really liked as a kid, the soundtrack was also phenomenal. It is called ‘Solatorobo.'”

Vocalist Maria Lessing further clarified that the conceptual weight of the song centers heavily on re-examining past life choices and visualizing the dramatic cost of beginning anew from scratch.

“This song is about doubting everything and every decision you’ve made so far in your life. Thinking about what it would be like if you would completely restart and be a totally different person - but also sacrifice everything and everyone you have in your life currently. It’s supposed to convey deep despair and self-doubt. What would life be like, if you were reborn today?”

Additionally, Lessing shared that the narrative arc of the new music video directly extends the storyline established in the band's previous visual release for “Deep Blue.”

“At the end of the video, the crew of the submarine gets lost in the ocean after the submarine sank. Their old friend, the siren, which attacked them because of a misunderstanding, welcomes them again in a new world, but the submarine crew has to sacrifice their human form to survive and become a new creature.”

When speaking directly on the overall sonic atmosphere of the piece, she elaborated on how the composition balances retro sensibilities with contemporary force.

“Musically, this song has a strong nu metal energy, which has a nostalgic, but also modern feeling to it. It’s supposed to catch you but also portray the despair of the message, which I find the chorus represents best.”

To build even more momentum around the album cycle, Future Palace will embark on an extensive headlining run across Europe this autumn for their highly anticipated "Deep Blue Tour." Joining them as special guests for the mainland European dates will be post-hardcore outfit As Everything Unfolds. For the United Kingdom leg of the tour, the lineup will shift to feature direct support from both Luna Kills and Defences.
