KANADIA DROP NEW SINGLE

Oxford alt-rock outfit Kanadia return with their brand new single, ‘Slide Off The Earth,’ the latest track lifted from their highly anticipated third album, The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home, out 26 September.
Blending brooding atmosphere with haunting melody, ‘Slide Off The Earth’ is a dark, hypnotic indie rock cut that evokes the sonic textures of The Jesus and Mary Chain and Echo & the Bunnymen. Built around reverb-soaked slide guitar, pensive rhythms, and the emotionally charged vocals of James Bettis (frontman, guitarist, and songwriter), the track sets the emotional and sonic tone for the album to come.
Talking about the new single Bettis says, “‘Slide Off The Earth’ ended up setting the tone for the whole album. The minute I wrote it, I knew I wanted Chris Barker—who’s worked with Willie J Healey and Premium Leisure—to produce it. That choice really shaped everything, pushing us towards a more roomy, real, and raw sound.
The song has this big, open, desert-y slide guitar vibe that’s pretty different for me. I’m really proud of how the melodies and vocal harmonies come together—it feels like we’re stepping into something new with this one.
The song’s about wanting to just walk away from it all—quitting the daily grind and disappearing with my wife, who’s also my best friend. It’s that feeling of being fed up and ready to let everything go. The second verse digs into the darker stuff—feeling let down, weighed down by life, and wondering if there’s more out there. It’s a tight, well-crafted song with lots of space to breathe, and it really captures what the rest of the album’s about.”
‘Slide Off The Earth’ captures the introspective spirit of The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home, a 50-minute journey through lush soundscapes, cinematic hooks, and soul-searching lyricism. Joined by Melissa Marshall(synth/keys), Tim Lucas (drums), and Everton Barbato (bass), Bettis leads Kanadia into bold new territory - both sonically and emotionally - as the band wrestles with anxiety, uncertainty, and the fragile beauty of existence.
Fresh from a UK tour with Black Foxxes, Kanadia have been previewing new material to fans, and will celebrate the album’s release with a hometown headline show at O2 Academy Oxford on 5 September. More live dates to be announced soon.
