NORTHLANE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM

The trailblazing Australian heavy music outfit Northlane have unveiled their visceral new single, ‘CUT_it’, taken from their highly anticipated forthcoming album, Anemoia, set for release on October 30 via Independent/Immortal Music Group.
Serving as the second suffocating preview of Anemoia, ‘CUT_it’ perfectly captures the bone-deep weariness of complete burnout. The track is propelled forward by a relentless, low-end groove that bends and buckles under the sheer weight of exhaustion, providing the backdrop for vocalist Marcus Bridge to showcase a menacing new dimension of his vast vocal range before the arrangement detonates into merciless heaviness.
“CUT_it is about burnout - the feeling of grinding through things when you're completely spent, mentally and physically. The imagery is deliberately visceral, painting a picture of that exhaustion rather than analysing it,” says Bridge.
Over the course of a career marked by seismic transformations, Northlane have repeatedly confronted technological anxiety, alienation, and societal collapse, transforming those heavy themes into an enormously influential body of work that remains as expansive as it is confrontational. Given the state of the world, it would have been effortless for the band to descend into complete darkness for their seventh full-length release. Instead, they emerged from the recording studio with their most human and hopeful collection of music to date.
Executive produced by Jordan Fish, the concept driving Anemoia was originally sparked by a mind-altering performance from UK producer and DJ Evian Christ. That experience inspired songwriter and guitarist Jon Deiley to experiment with how trance music—with all of its emotional intensity and immense physical scale—could integrate naturally alongside heavy guitars and cathartic energy. Across the record, Northlane’s signature blend of electronic metal continuously shapeshifts, moving seamlessly between euphoric trance textures, massive breakdowns, complex grooves, drum-and-bass, jungle, and pop influences, ultimately merging into the band's own unique sonic singularity.
Arriving as the successor to their 2022 Australian #1 album Obsidian, Anemoia explores the concept of feeling nostalgia for an era or location a person has never actually experienced. This deep yearning creates a striking dichotomy between light and shade, where the uninhibited freedom of past eras infuses a carefree energy into tracks such as lead single ‘Evian’, while raw anger and despair come flooding back whenever the harsh reality of the present day interrupts the dream, triggering some of the heaviest moments Northlane have crafted since their debut EP.
“There's darkness here, but it's not nihilism - and there's hope, but it's not naivety,” adds Bridge.
More than fifteen years into their journey, Northlane remain firmly positioned at the leading edge of global heavy music, possessing a singular sound that reshapes the genre's boundaries with every new release. Backed by multiple chart-topping records, prestigious awards, and more than 500 million streams, the group has established a lasting legacy built entirely on a restless drive for innovation. On Anemoia, they refrain from choosing between the different musical worlds that formed them, arriving instead at the exact place where those worlds finally intersect.
