SPEARSIDE UNVEIL NEW EP
Copyright: Joshua Mulholland
Irish hardcore band Spearside have unveiled their latest EP Couldn’t Be Told, out now via Kill Cool. The self-produced Couldn’t Be Told EP is a blistering blend of ferocious punk energy and emotionally charged melody, packing a punch across its four dynamic tracks. Opening with the breakneck intensity of the title track ‘Couldn’t Be Told’, the EP sets the tone with a sound inspired by hardcore heavyweights like Judge and Youth Of Today, tackling themes of growth and childhood.
‘Sentimental’ offers a raw emotional core, echoing the melodic sensibilities of bands like Fiddlehead and Joyce Manor, while ‘Stuck Into Me’ grinds forward with the weighty, riff-driven force of Helmet. The EP closes on a fitting tribute to punk heritage with a sharp-edged cover of Agent Orange’s ‘No Such Thing’.
Spearside is the project of brothers Oisín and Cian Walsh from Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland. The Couldn’t Be Told EP follows closely on the heels of their June debut Hatchet Man, a release that quickly cemented their cross-Atlantic appeal.
Currently at work on their debut album due next year, Spearside are rapidly emerging as one of Ireland’s most exciting new punk bands. The Couldn’t Be Told EP is another powerful step forward.
