VALLEY ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM

JUNO nominated alternative-pop group Valley have officially launched their next creative chapter with the announcement of their upcoming fourth studio album, Do You Need To Be Entertained? (Universal Music Canada/Capitol Records), scheduled for release on January 15. To mark the occasion, the band has also dropped their brand new single and accompanying music video, ‘Don’t You Forget About Me?’, available today.

This major milestone comes right on the heels of their previous releases, ‘Vending Machine’ and ‘Someday,’ which provided the initial glimpse into Valley's evolving sonic landscape. “Vending Machine” proved to be a historic success for the group, earning them their very first #1 spot at Canadian Alternative Radio, while “Someday” further established the musical direction and conceptual foundation of their upcoming record.

With ‘Don’t You Forget About Me?’, the band carries that overarching narrative even further. Co-written alongside Chase Lawrence (formerly of COIN), the track captures the emotional tension of letting go of a loved one while still treasuring the deep significance of the bond you shared.

“It’s a song about loving someone enough to realize that letting them go is the right thing to do,” the band shares. “It’s the feeling of realization, the parachute moment (the release, the free fall) in your life. All while holding onto the hope that what you shared meant something and that, even after you’ve moved on, you at times think about landing back in their arms.”

The new single lays the dynamic groundwork for Do You Need To Be Entertained?, a project designed to dissect human connection, constant distraction, and the search for authentic meaning inside an increasingly noisy, fragmented culture.

“Attention is fragmented, emotions are interrupted, and silence is something we’ve learned to avoid. But it doesn’t stand outside that reality. It participates in it. These songs are distractions, just like everything else,” the band explains. “They’re something to click on, something to feel for a moment, something to get stuck in your head.”

At its core, the album poses a simple yet striking prompt: Do You Need To Be Entertained? For Valley themselves, answering that question leads to far deeper reflection.

“The question is not just Do You Need To Be Entertained? It’s what are you hoping to find when you are and what happens when it’s over?”

Crafted over a span of more than two years, the record mirrors a transformative era of maturity for Valley, both collectively as musicians and personally as individuals. Stepping into the studio with a fresh mindset, they prioritized raw instincts and embraced the immediate creative ideas that resonated most. The band experimented with recording live off the floor, routing track signals through analog tape, and allowing natural imperfections to remain part of the final sound.

The resulting body of work is a rich musical collection forged through heartbreak, grief, anxiety, love, and compassion, all while driven by the central theme of curiosity and the constant desire to feel entertained.

“This album is an exploration of our emotions together as a band, as individual humans,” Valley says. “It’s an album with heartbreak, grief, fear, love, care but most importantly the desire, questioning and curiosity of needing to be entertained woven throughout it.”

Valley will take these new songs on the road with an extensive World Tour, bringing their latest era to audiences across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Key North American dates feature stops in major markets such as Toronto, Chicago, New York, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Nashville, while European performances include visits to London, Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam.
