London-based duo WARGASM have just dropped their latest single, ‘Small World Syndrome’ - their second independent release since boldly announcing their freedom from “the industry machine.”
Blistering and unfiltered, the track delivers a fierce critique of cultural homogenisation, gentrification, and the slow decay of magic and individuality in the modern world. It’s a raw, defiant anthem pushing back against a society that feels increasingly manufactured and soulless.
Speaking on the new track, the band explained: “They replaced sulphur street lamps with day glow bulbs, they changed the packaging on cigarettes – do you ever feel like there’s a bit less magic in the world? You wake up one day and the venues, the cafes, the cinemas you loved have been shut down. The things that make the world special are bulldozed by greed and homogenisation. Reality gets smaller by the day. Maybe the world’s not smaller - there’s just less in it. This is a little song about that. Your feelings are better out than in.”
Expanding on the official music video, they continued: ‘‘The video is a Wargasm x (Haris) Nukem Production, shot in a bizarre world where backstreet lobotomies are the norm and deceivingly hench old ladies loiter on park benches to attack unsuspecting ASBO’s. Oh, and Milkie is running for Leader. You gotta be honest with us - somehow it still doesn’t seem as surreal as the mindfuck world we all actually inhabit…"
As well as recently being announced as support for Electric Callboy on their UK / EU arena tour alongside Bury Tomorrow, WARGASM have just announced an exclusive and ‘Phone Free’ UK headline show at the immersive Outernet in London on 28 September, bringing along special guests Tropic Gold and Filthy Pig.
