BEN QUAD RELEASE NEW SINGLE

Post-emo outfit Ben Quad have unveiled their latest single, ‘Very Big In Sheboygan,’ accompanied by a playful new music video that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the band’s creative process. The video captures candid moments and outtakes from their time recording their upcoming album on a farm in New Jersey, adding a touch of humor and warmth to the release.

The track serves as the final preview of their forthcoming album, Wisher, due out 14 November via Pure Noise Records.

With ‘Very Big In Sheboygan,’ Ben Quad continue to push beyond their Midwest emo roots. Originally conceived as one of the heavier cuts on the record, the song evolved into something more melodic and pop-leaning, blending punchy synth leads and sliced guitar glitches to create a vibrant, genre-bending sound.

“This song is based on the period of my life when I would drive up 7 hours every couple of weeks to make a long-distance relationship work with my partner. Despite the obstacles of living so far apart from each other, the happiness I felt seeing this person made the long drives worth it,” says guitarist Edgar Viveros. “It feels good to put out a proper love song. We’re leaning into a poppier lane for sure on this one, but there’s also so much energy and deliberation that we put into the instrumentals, I think anyone, not just the lovebirds, will enjoy it.”

The new single ‘Very Big In Sheboygan’ follows Ben Quad’s earlier releases ‘It’s Just a Title’ and ‘Painless,’ both of which delved into themes of grief, loss, and existential uncertainty. Lyrically, this latest track offers a softer emotional turn, focusing on the longing and desire that come with loving someone from hundreds of miles away.

Wisher serves as the follow-up to Ben Quad’s 2022 debut, I’m Scared That’s All There Is. While their first record captured the anxieties and confusion of youth, Wisher looks ahead with a renewed sense of optimism. The title itself represents the hopeful side of human nature — the part that continues to dream of something better. As a whole, the record feels like a thoughtful response to their earlier work, swapping uncertainty for growth and self-assurance.

In pursuit of that evolution, the band traded their Oklahoma roots for the New Jersey countryside, teaming up with producer Jon Markson (The Story So Far, Drug Church) to record the album at his farm studio. Surrounded by barnyard animals and open fields, the tranquil setting became the ideal environment for reflection, creativity, and transformation — capturing the spirit of Wisher both sonically and emotionally.

Wisher is now available for physical pre-order, with fans who order invited to attend an exclusive in-store performance and signing at Seasick Records in Birmingham, AL.
