BLACK HONEY UNVEIL NEW ALBUM
Copyright: Frank Fieber
British rock band Black Honey have unveiled their hotly anticipated fourth album, Soak - a fearless, emotionally charged record that finds strength in vulnerability and thrives on dynamic extremes. From gothic grit to psychedelic haze and moments of aching tenderness, Soak is driven entirely by instinct, with frontwoman Izzy B. Phillips at the helm - unapologetic, raw, and commanding as ever.
To mark the release, the band will hit the road this August for a UK tour, kicking things off with an album release party at Signature Brew Blackhorse Road in London.
While past albums have drawn inspiration from the cinematic worlds of Quentin Tarantino (Black Honey, Written & Directed) and Wes Anderson (A Fistful of Peaches), Soak channels a distinctly Kubrickian energy - retrofuturistic and unflinching, filled with unsettling imagery and emotional reckoning.
On this record, Phillips leans into imperfection, favoring raw intention and emotional clarity over polish. Tracks like ‘Shallow’ exemplify this approach, teetering on the edge between visceral honesty and refined chaos. Embracing a stream-of-consciousness writing style, she steps away from overt polemics to explore complexity, contradiction, and the messiness of real emotion. Her lyricism has never been more cutting - or more compelling.
Speaking on the vision for the album, Phillips shares: “Soak is me processing a decade of touring and creating music and art as an addict. It’s me picking at the layers of messy, romantic, confusing, woozy, beautiful and fucked up things. Who I thought I was, who I was supposed to be and who looks back at me now are all so different but I’m kind of here for it.”
