Southern California’s DAYSEEKER - Rory Rodriguez (vocals), Gino Sgambelluri (guitar), Ramone Valerio (bass), and Zac Mayfield (drums) - have unveiled the epic, cinematic video for their new single ‘Crawl Back to My Coffin,’ taken from the band’s forthcoming album Creature in the Black Night, out Friday, October 24 via Spinefarm.
"'Crawl Back To My Coffin' is a metaphor for love that hurts you when you're guarded and causes your walls to go up even further," says Rodriguez. "The excitement in meeting someone new when you're 'dead' and feeling like they bring you back to life only to feel pain and wish you had never left your grave at the end of it."
The accompanying video is both visually striking and darkly romantic, more like a short film than a traditional music video. Set fittingly in a graveyard, the narrative unfolds as though the viewer is standing just outside the gates, witnessing the story play out from afar.
Produced by Daniel Braunstein (Spiritbox, Silent Planet) and mixed by Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Lorna Shore), Creature in the Black Night stands as Dayseeker’s most immersive and deliberate work to date - cinematic, moody, and charged with a darkly sensual emotional undercurrent.
Meanwhile, the album’s lead single ‘Pale Moonlight’ continues its ascent on the radio charts, recently breaking into the Top 10 at No. 9, a career first for the band.
Though not a traditional concept record, Creature in the Black Night carries a strong thematic cohesion. From its shadow-drenched visual aesthetic and Grim Reaper motifs to the way each song unfolds like a chapter, the record radiates an eerie, horror-inspired energy. "There’s a horror-inspired vibe that took hold early on," Rodriguez explains. "It wasn't planned. But once it started showing up in the songs, we leaned into it."
Fans anticipating another melancholic dive into sorrow may be in for a surprise, Creature in the Black Night hits harder, with sharper edges, heavier riffs, and a renewed sense of purpose. "There was this idea that we'd get more and more commercial over time," Rodriguez says. "But I think the opposite happened — we're riffing more, I'm screaming more. And it feels good. It feels honest."
