Horror metal visionaries ICE NINE KILLS have unveiled a new track titled ‘The Great Unknown’ - a blistering, high-concept single and video that dives headfirst into a glitched-out, dystopian reality inspired by The Matrix.
Blending cinematic ambition with melodic grandeur, ‘The Great Unknown’ pushes the boundaries of the INKverse. ICE NINE KILLS sharpens their signature sound - polished, precise, and laced with razor-edged wit - into something bold and new.
This release comes after weeks of mounting online speculation about frontman Spencer Charnas’ increasingly bizarre and cryptic behavior. What started as a potential marketing misstep exploded into viral chaos, as fans and critics alike dissected a string of unsettling, glitch-heavy social posts.
A statement from Charnas reads: “‘The Great Unknown’ optimises aggression and melody in a format our core user base consistently engages with. This audio file represents a genre expansion protocol, targeting action and sci-fi verticals proven effective via cross-platform sentiment analysis. ‘The Great Unknown’ is designed to seamlessly interface with current simulation conditions, as categorical boundaries between fact and fiction, organic and synthetic, continue to experience accelerated erosion.”
The release of ‘The Great Unknown’ comes as ICE NINE KILLS cap off a colossal two-year run touring stadiums worldwide with Metallica on the M72 World Tour. The band also recently concluded their wildly successful Silver Scream-A-Thon US headline tour, where they performed The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood in full on alternating nights across select cities.
Later this year, the band will embark on their massive A Work of Art headline tour across the UK and EU, accompanied by Creeper and The Devil Wears Prada. The tour promises to close out 2025 in gloriously theatrical, blood-soaked fashion, ending with ICE NINE KILLS’ biggest show to date at London’s legendary Wembley Arena.
