LIQUID MIKE RELEASE NEW SINGLE

American rock band Liquid Mike have released a brand new song titled ‘Claws’. The new track dives into the anxiety of sleeplessness, where even rest feels as cruel as being awake.

Vocalist and guitarist Mike Maples shared the inspiration behind the song: "Something that seemed to happen to me more and more in the last few years is I just get anxious at night. It makes it hard to sleep, and then when you finally do sleep the sleep was so bad that it feels awful to get up. Bad cycle that repeats itself."

The outfit is set to release their new album Hell Is An Airport on 12 September. Raucous, sardonic, and unflinchingly real, the record paints a vivid portrait of life and longing, using the metaphor of airport travel to capture the bleak, in-between space - where you're stuck between where you are and where you hope to be.

"Airports are these weird, intermediary spaces that have always made me feel like I'm stuck in limbo," shared Maple who began writing songs while working for the U.S. Postal Service. "This album deals a lot with themes surrounding feeling stuck and unable to crawl out. Airports are stressful and congested and bureaucratic and never sleep; I imagine hell operates very much like an airport."

Musically, Hell Is An Airport draws from alt-rock staples like Guided by Voices and The Replacements, while channeling the raw, guitar-fueled energy of Maple’s youth - Nirvana, Ramones, and AC/DC. The result is a sharp, punchy collection that transforms self-deprecation into catharsis. Throughout, Liquid Mike continue to solidify their place as one of the most compelling voices in today’s alt-rock scene.
