NORTHLANE RELEASE NEW SINGLE

Australian metalcore titan Northlane has officially unveiled ‘Crucified,’, the powerful next single taken from their highly anticipated seventh studio album Anemoia, arriving everywhere on October 30th.
Serving as the third release from Anemoia, ‘Crucified’ builds directly upon the groundwork established by earlier cuts ‘Evian’ and ‘CUT_it.’ The track plunges headfirst into a relentless examination of societal division and extreme polarization, driven by furious vocal performances and razor-sharp, heavy instrumentation.
“‘Crucified’ is about the collapse of civil discourse - the way every disagreement now defaults to attack, every conversation becomes a battleground, every difference of opinion ends with someone playing the victim,” explains frontman Marcus Bridge. “Not only touching on politics, it's about the regression of communication as a whole: arguments online, wars, general difference of opinion. If you're offside, misaligned / we won't rest tonight / till you're fucking crucified. The instinct to go for the throat rather than hear someone out has seeped into every corner of life.”
Throughout a discography marked by bold evolutionary leaps, Northlane has consistently confronted digital existentialism, isolation, and systemic breakdown, forging these themes into an authoritative and uncompromising body of work. Faced with present-day global anxieties, the band chose not to retreat into total darkness for their seventh full-length effort. Instead, they returned with a collection of music that stands out as their most optimistic and deeply human creation to date.
Executive produced alongside Jordan Fish, the initial spark for Anemoia occurred during an immersive performance by British DJ and producer Evian Christ. The experience prompted principal songwriter and guitarist Jon Deiley to experiment with incorporating the emotional scale and physical impact of trance music into the heavy, cathartic framework of heavy guitars. Across the full release, Northlane's signatures evolve into expansive new directions, seamlessly blending elements of euphoric trance, punishing breakdowns, intricate rhythm work, drum-and-bass, jungle, and pop melodies into a cohesive identity.
Following up on the massive success of their 2022 chart-topping album Obsidian, Anemoia centers around the phenomenon of feeling a deep nostalgia for an era or location never personally experienced. This underlying sensation establishes a compelling contrast between shadow and brightness throughout the tracking list. Channeling the uninhibited spirit of prior decades, an uplifting essence shines through dynamic tracks such as the Britpop-influenced ‘Start Again,’ the spirited 2000s energy of ‘CUT_it,’ the high-tempo drive of ‘Evian,’ and the expansive vocal interplay between Bridge and guest singer Rory Rodriguez of Dayseeker on the titular anthem.
“There's darkness here, but it's not nihilism - and there's hope, but it's not naivety,” adds Bridge. “We weren't interested in writing a record that projects something beyond ourselves with a prophetic statement, or pretending the world is better than it is. What we made instead is something that feels like it was written by real people living through the same experience as everyone else.”
