Acclaimed alternative artist RØRY spent the past week visiting record shops nationwide to promote her second album, BLOODLETTING. During these in-store appearances, she signed copies for fans and delivered intimate acoustic performances. Her supporters turned out in full force to create a series of sold-out events, uniting to back her push to surpass the benchmark set by her debut record, RESTORATION.
The Official UK Album Charts have now confirmed that BLOODLETTING debuted at #8, marking RØRY's highest-charting position of her career so far. After her debut record challenged industry expectations and defied critics, this latest success solidly cements her standing in the music landscape.
Accomplishing this as an independent musician without major label backing underscores the dedication of her community, known as The 37 Club. Her fan base directly propelled the record to its chart spot, with physical copies driving an astounding 97.2% of total sales, alongside the remaining 2.8% coming from streaming platforms. Beyond being a career milestone for RØRY, this result represents a landmark moment for physical media, independent artists, and alternative music.

What occurs when long-awaited dreams finally materialize, yet the underlying grief still lingers? How do you navigate life when original wounds have scabbed over, but a deep-seated anger remains quietly buried beneath the surface? For many, the expectation is that personal milestones soften the impact of mortality, profound loss, and heartbreak, yet these harsh realities persist regardless of how much personal growth or emotional progress has taken place.
For the vast majority of her artistic journey, RØRY found a sense of familiarity and safety in exploring sadness through her lyrics. Processing her pain through gentle melancholy was second nature. Processing raw, unvarnished anger, however, was an entirely different frontier.
It was only when intensive therapeutic work compelled her to confront decades of heavily suppressed feelings that she was brought face-to-face with the very emotional states she had spent a lifetime running from: unbridled rage, bitter resentment, ugly jealousy, fantasies of revenge, and even pure hatred. These were volatile emotions that felt inherently dangerous to engage with, and as a consequence, they had never once surfaced across any of her previous body of work.
Choosing the title BLOODLETTING provided the definitive metaphor for this intense creative and psychological shift. Historically, the practice of bloodletting involved the deliberate withdrawal of blood from a patient in an effort to cleanse the system and restore health. For RØRY, undertaking this album became a deeply spiritual equivalent - an urgent, cathartic release of every toxic feeling that had been locked away too deep for far too long.
This intense internal evolution naturally yielded the heaviest, most daring, and musically expansive work of her career to date. Reconnecting with her long-term creative collaborators Kingdoms, while bringing in revered producer and mixer Dan Lancaster (known for his work with Bring Me The Horizon and Muse), RØRY deliberately threw herself far outside her comfort zone. Galvanized by the immense emotional weight inherent to modern heavy genres and fueled by a desire to push her artistic boundaries, she sought out formal vocal coaching and mastered screaming technique for the first time. In doing so, she unlocked a visceral new vocal language - one uniquely equipped to articulate the raw, unfiltered feelings that traditional, clean vocals could simply never convey on their own.
