British rock legends Skunk Anansie have unveiled the powerful video for their new single ‘Shame.’ A deeply personal track for frontwoman Skin, ‘Shame’ delves into her family history, serving as a raw and cathartic release. The accompanying video brings that emotion vividly to life - a striking visual journey that captures Skin confronting and exorcising the ghosts of her past.
Skin says, “‘Shame’ is one of the most personal songs we’ve ever written. Many of us feel or get unconnected to our families because of the lives we need to lead in order to be happy; sometimes they just can’t understand who we are if we are not like them and there’s a lot of shame and hurt in that. ‘Shame’ is dedicated to those outcasts, to those kids that go on to find new families that support & love them, give them hope and help them find true contentment.”
The song is taken from The Painful Truth - Skunk Anansie’s UK Top 10 album and one of their most mesmerising, provocative, and emotionally charged releases to date. More than just a title, The Painful Truth represents a lived experience - a raw, unfiltered reckoning with identity, legacy, and transformation. The album has been met with widespread critical acclaim, hailed as a bold and powerful statement from a band unafraid to confront their truth.
