‘Arsenal’ brings to bear virtually every element of Slipknot's sonic arsenal: relentless dynamics, piercing vocal delivery and lyrics, razor-like keys, and massive, heavy riffs. “I fought a fcking god and the god lost,” frontman Corey Taylor declares, driving through the track with self-assured swagger, blending metal, punk, and hip-hop verses while delivering a searing vocal performance. He speaks directly when dismissing fleeting trends, snarling, “I know I’m a hack and a has-been, but motherfcker I’m a .45 and not a Mach 10,” yet maintains a playfulness throughout, seen also when he brings the track to a sudden halt, calling out to his bandmates and shattering the wall of sound built up around them. The composition reflects a tight, concentrated intensity that demonstrates the musical force developed over their tenure.
