Rising punk outfit Winona Fighter have released their rendition of Violent Femmes’ iconic track ‘Blister In The Sun,’ out now via Rise Records.
‘Blister In The Sun’ will appear on the upcoming deluxe edition of Winona Fighter’s critically acclaimed debut album My Apologies To The Chef, which arrives digitally on 5 September. The expanded release includes acoustic versions of every track from the original album, along with covers of Beastie Boys’ ‘Sabotage’ and the recently released single ‘(Don’t Get) CLOSE.’
Speaking about the release, frontwoman and multi-instrumentalist Coco Kinnon shared: “The idea for covering ‘Blister In The Sun’ came while we were discussing an acoustic version of our record. We’re always looking for ways to honor the artists who’ve paved the way, so paying homage to the folk-punk legends themselves, Violent Femmes, felt like a natural choice. We’re so proud of how it turned out — especially after receiving a nod of approval from the band. That meant the world to us.”
Fresh off their ambitious Yes, Chef Tour - which marked their first-ever UK headline run, a stop at Slam Dunk Festival, and three sold-out U.S. legs in cities like New York, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Denver, and Kansas City - Winona Fighter are set to return this fall with appearances in Nashville, Boston, and at the Orlando stop of the Vans Warped Tour.
