DARKO RELEASE NEW SINGLE

UK punk outfit DARKO have unleashed their dynamic new single ‘Override!’, accompanied by a brilliantly animated music video that bursts with energy and character. The track marks the second release from their upcoming EP Canvas, which drops 18 July via Lockjaw Records.

‘Override!’ showcases DARKO’s signature blend of technical prowess, melodic intensity, and forward-thinking punk spirit—further cementing their place as one of the UK’s most inventive heavy acts.

Serving as the final chapter in an ongoing conceptual journey, Canvas ties together themes and narratives introduced in the band’s previous EPs Greyscale and Sparkle. Where the EP’s title track - released earlier this year - was a heartfelt tribute to the grassroots music scene, ‘Override!’ shifts the focus outward, becoming a loud, unapologetic show of solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community.

Speaking on the new single, frontman Tom West shared: "Growing up with rampant, normalised homophobia left Millennials with past behaviours to unpack and internalisations to unlearn. I remember thinking I was counter-culture and anti-authoritarian, yet still ‘ironically’ using homophobic slurs way past the point where I should have known better. It wasn’t OK back then, and it definitely isn’t OK now. Anyone within the punk rock scene who is not unequivocally supportive of the LGBTQI+ community needs to either sort their act out, or f**k off."
