HOT MULLIGAN DROP NEW SONG

American post-emo rising stars Hot Mulligan have unveiled their latest Midwest emo-influenced single and video, ‘Island in the Sun’ (featuring Cory Castro of Free Throw), out now via Wax Bodega. The track marks the second release from their upcoming fourth studio album, The Sound A Body Makes When It’s Still, due out on 22 August.

‘Island in the Sun’ (feat. Cory Castro of Free Throw) is a raw, self-aware anthem that further cements Hot Mulligan’s uncanny ability to turn unfiltered angst into cathartic punk gold. Driven by gritty vocals and a spiraling undercurrent of emotional collapse, the track recounts a night of self-destruction and dissociation - paradoxically set against a backdrop of upbeat, infectious instrumentals.

The accompanying video, directed by Michael Herrick, stitches together candid tour footage - offering fans an intimate look into the chaotic, kinetic energy that defines the band both on and off the stage.

True to form, the band’s signature blend of brutal honesty and melodic chaos cuts through in lyrics like: “I want to want nothing / To forget what I need to change.” It’s a sharp portrayal of numb desperation, where regret is drowned out but never truly silenced.

Their upcoming album, The Sound A Body Makes When It’s Still, builds on that emotional core. Packed with jagged riffs and subtle sonic textures, the record explores themes of fear, vulnerability, and fleeting moments of clarity. Amid all the noise, Hot Mulligan masterfully strikes a balance - finding humour in the heaviness and solace in the fact that, no matter how uncertain the future feels, we’re here right now.

Following the new album release, the band will head to the UK and Europe this September, joining Pierce The Veil on tour.
