Rock goliaths Shinedown have officially announced the release of their eighth studio album, titled EI8HT, arriving May 29th via Atlantic Records. To celebrate the news, the band has unleashed a massive new single, ‘Safe and Sound,’ which frontman Brent Smith describes as a defiant reminder to the competition of exactly who they are dealing with. This 18-track collection aims to balance the band's signature arena-sized rock with deeply introspective lyrics, reinforcing Shinedown’s long-standing identity as a band for everyone.
The arrival of EI8HT follows a landmark year defined by four major singles that are all featured on the new record. These include the three #1 US radio hits ‘Three Six Five,’ ‘Dance, Kid, Dance,’ and ‘Killing Fields,’ alongside "Searchlight," a track the band famously debuted at the iconic Grand Ole Opry. As ‘Searchlight’ continues its climb up the charts, the band is preparing to take their new music across the globe with the newly announced Dance Kid Dance Act II World Tour, which spans 53 dates across 11 countries including North America, the UK, and Europe.
Reflecting on the creative process and his partnership with longtime bandmate and producer Eric Bass, Brent Smith noted that the album was over a year in the making. He emphasized that the band pushed themselves further than ever before, expressing immense pride in working with Bass in his multi-faceted role as producer, engineer, mixer, and songwriter. According to Smith, the entire group, including Zach Myers and Barry Kerch, is honoured to finally share this milestone chapter of their career with their fans worldwide.
